Things don’t seem to be going well for Assassin’s Creed Invictus, Ubisoft’s upcoming online project. According to prominent leaker j0nathan, recent playtests held on April 30 were “really f*****g awful.” Ubisoft was reportedly aiming for a release later this year, but these poor results could lead to a delay or even cancellation.
This negative reaction came from testers, who described the game as having “ridiculous animations,” “hideous and cartoonish” character designs, and “idiotic” sound and visual effects. Overall, the feedback suggests the game is far from what players expected after years of development.

It’s worth noting that Insider Gaming also confirmed that the playtest did happen on April 30. The site also says that while the game is currently in a rough state, some internal sources still believe it has potential. Ubisoft seems to see Invictus as part of its long-term plans for the franchise, although there is speculation that delays, or in the worst case, even cancellation, could still happen.
The project is said to be a 16-player PvP game with round-based knockout matches. It takes some inspiration from Fall Guys, but uses Assassin’s Creed characters and maps from past games. In addition, the team working on it includes developers who previously worked on For Honor.
This situation also shows a bigger problem at Ubisoft. The company has been struggling lately, with game cancellations and delays, layoffs, and cost-cutting measures that have placed several major projects and studio teams at risk. Their upcoming release, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, is very important for Ubisoft. If it does well, it could help ease some of the pressure on the company. The game has already reached one million wishlists, which is a good sign, but it remains to be seen how successful it will be once it actually releases.
