Ubisoft just held their Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reveal showcase, featuring the return of the beloved Edward Kenway in a full, ground-up remake of the 2013 gaming classic. The game features new narrative arcs, with a stronger Jackdaw pirate ship and expanded underwater exploration, plus reworked combat. Fighting is richer, with dual-swords, hidden blade attacks and pistol moves working together seamlessly for more fluid, and risky, fights.
Ubisoft also say they’ve improved on the parkour from the original, in an experience they describe as “greater”, making players faster and more agile. Reworked missions allow players to fail stealth sections without ending the job, instead now entering combat against reactive enemies and scenarios.
As for pricing, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will cost $59.99 at launch on all platforms, but also comes with a Collector’s Edition priced at $199.99 for the die-hard fans. The premium priced package includes an Edward Kenway statue including the titular Black Flag, along with a Steelbook case, map, notebook and in-game cosmetic options including pets. Yes, you even get a pet cat for your ship – and a monkey!
For those unfamiliar with the original, Black Flag follows Edward Kenway in the West Indies, during the Golden Age of Piracy in the 1700s. Edward is on the hunt for fortune, as most pirates are, but Edward soon finds himself involved in the major overarching battle between the Assassin’s and the Templars. World immersion is enhanced further in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced with a new dynamic weather system and more seamless oceanic traversal.
