PlayStation Ends Agreement With Indie Publisher And Removes Entire Game Catalog Without Reason

PlayStation has ended its development and publishing agreement with Ukrainian indie studio Ternox Games without giving the developer a clear reason. The decision means STONKS-9800: Stock Market Simulator will no longer be released on PS5, even though the port was already in development, while 13 Ternox Games titles will be removed from the PlayStation Store after August 23.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ternox Games shared what happened: “Sony PlayStation unilaterally terminated my PlayStation developer and publisher agreement without giving me any reason.” Getting a reply from Sony does not appear to be going well either. The studio added, “PlayStation Support refuses to listen to my arguments or even respond to my emails in any way. This means I will no longer be able to self-publish my games on PlayStation.”

PlayStation Ends Agreement With Indie Publisher and Removes Entire Game Catalog for No Reason
Ternox Games had planned to release a physical disc edition of STONKS-9800 for PS5 in 2027.

The cancellation of STONKS-9800 comes as disappointing considering how well the game has performed on PC. The game has a 97% positive rating on Steam. The PS5 version had already been announced and was in development, but it has now been cancelled. And it does not stop with STONKS-9800. As mentioned, Sony is also removing 13 previous Ternox Games titles from the PlayStation Store after August 23:

  • Nexoria: Dungeon Rogue Heroes
  • Taimumari: Complete Edition
  • Legend of Himari
  • Retro Highway
  • Unichrome: A 1-Bit Unicorn Adventure
  • O-VOID: Console Edition
  • Bullet Beat
  • Dungeonloop
  • IN-VERT
  • Scrap Divers
  • Run & Jump Guy
  • Fox’s Zen House
  • Boned Again: Survivors

It’s worth noting that the studio had planned to release a physical version of STONKS-9800 in 2027, before Sony’s planned move away from discs. With the PlayStation version now cancelled, the physical PS5 release will no longer happen either. The studio says it will do its best to bring physical versions of STONKS-9800 to PC and Nintendo Switch, while an Xbox version is also planned.

There is no official explanation for why Sony ended its partnership with Ternox Games, so the exact reason remains unknown. We have reached out to Sony for comment, and as we get more information, we’ll make sure to keep you updated here at GameObserver.
