Crimson Desert is not stopping with PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pearl Abyss has officially confirmed in its latest financial report that the open-world game is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in the first half of 2027, while DLC, multiplayer features, and even future sequels are also being considered.
The studio says the Switch 2 version has already reached a basic playable state. Work is now focused on technical checks and improving performance so the game can meet the required quality standards before release. They said, “In the case of Switch 2, the game has reached a playable baseline, and we are currently conducting technical reviews regarding performance optimization and quality standard compliance, targeting a release in the first half of next year.”
The studio now plans to keep players interested with new content. The first major premium DLC is planned for later this year, with its price, content, and exact release date set to be revealed during the current third quarter. Multiplayer could also become another major part of Crimson Desert. Pearl Abyss is actively studying how multiplayer features could be added to the base game, although doing so will require much more work than simply adding another game mode.
Pearl Abyss explained, “Integrating multiplayer functionality is far more complex than simply adding a new game mode; it represents a major technical initiative that requires comprehensive evaluation of server architecture, game balance, cross-platform stability, and live service operation models.” The studio wants Crimson Desert to become a long-term franchise and is open to expanding the series with more content, new platforms, and full sequels in the future.
