It looks like Capcom may already be working behind the scenes on the return of one of the most famous survival horror games ever made. While the project has not been officially announced, a new report claims that Resident Evil 1 Remake has been in pre-production for almost a year.
This information comes from well-known insider and leaker Dusk Golem, who said the remake entered pre-production around August or September 2025. That means the team has spent nearly a year on early planning, ideas, and testing before moving into full development.

While replying to a post asking whether Resident Evil 1 will get a remake, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Yes, it started early production nearly a year ago (I hear last August-September is when it started pre-production), it’ll probably enter full production after Resident Evil Veronica is finished with its crunch period it’s in right now.” According to his comments, Resident Evil 1 Remake is not yet in full production. Capcom is expected to fully shift its focus to the project only after the Resident Evil Veronica remake finishes its current “crunch” development period. Because of that, we should expect a long wait before Capcom officially reveals the game.
Dusk Golem also shared that Capcom is reportedly planning to invest more in a longer story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem and future titles in the franchise. Instead of releasing more smaller spin-off games, the company is said to be focusing on story expansions similar in size and scope to Separate Ways and Shadow of Rose, helping fill the gap between major Resident Evil releases.
Nonetheless, Capcom has not officially confirmed any of these projects, so this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. As more information about these projects becomes available, we’ll make sure to let you know here at GameObserver.
