The Tennocon 2026 celebration continues. Soulframe had its time to shine earlier today, and now it is Warframe’s turn to show its next content plans. The announcements for these plans include new Warframes, new Primes, new mini-games, and the next main quest, which brings one of the most fan-awaited moments: a new system and Star Chart.
If you’ve been following Warframe’s story, you will know how the arrival of the Tau system has been teased. While we already visited the system to an extent, inside some memories on a quest, this time we’ll be staying for a lot longer. In the next expansion, titled “Tau,” we will discover what became of that sentient civilization. There, we will take the role of the new Warframe called Brysko (voiced by Matthew Mercer), who is a noir detective-inspired frame who’s also working with none other than Albrecht Entrati.

On Tau, we will explore the Sentient ring city of Fornax (other regions coming at later dates), a city with constant black rain, a criminal underworld, and activities such as a Casino with Portaum, a new card mini-game. The new enemy factions and mission environments include high-end casinos, grimy shipping docks, and dilapidated slums surrounded by the deadly Sentient faction, the Fornax Drowners, who have evolved differently from the Sentients encountered on the Origin System.
While Creative Director Rebecca Ford couldn’t be at the event this time for health reasons, she left a message to the Warframe community about this new expansion: “When we launched Warframe nearly 14 years ago, we never dreamed of what it truly could become. With community at our side, our little passion project blossomed into something more, something meaningful beyond business metrics, beyond player count, beyond data and numbers. Now, we look beyond the stars at this next chapter, and we reach into our hearts with the deepest bow we could ever give to say ‘thank you’ to our community who have trusted us, respected us, and who have helped us shape this big little game into something more than we could have ever imagined. Warframe is for you, Tau is for you, and we are so excited to experience this journey with you together.”
Additional updates that will be arriving before the Tau expansion include Amir taking over the Nightwave next August, where he will be bringing new 1999-inspired cosmetics, and a new mini-role-playing adventure with The Hex crew on the K.I.M. Iceblade of Narin is another update coming this fall, which introduces a female ice-themed Warframe. As with all story expansions in Warframe, these will all be completely free. The Mesa Heirloom Collection is available today, and Citrine Prime will arrive later this year. Tennocon will be returning to London, Ontario, Canada, on July 16-17, 2027.
