We recently reported on Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time releasing its massive new update released in time for Christmas, which included a new roguelike mode, and it seems it might just have pushed sales forwards enough over the holiday period to cross another major sales milestone. Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino just revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that since releasing in May earlier this year, Fantasy Life i has now sold over 1.5 million units.
This is a considerable jump in sales since we last heard an update on how Fantasy Life i was performing commercially. Back in June we had the announcement of a million total game sales, meaning in the six months that followed, the game managed to shift an additional half a million copies to fans worldwide. It’s an easy sell given its high critic scores and how it has managed to revive the Fantasy Life brand over a decade since its first game on the Nintendo 3DS.

Perhaps part of the reason for Fantasy Life i‘s success can be attributed to its frequent free DLC updates. Developers Level-5 have repeatedly added new content to the game free of charge with no microtransactions or paid expansions (besides the Deluxe Edition). The most recent of these major updates was ‘The Sinister Broker Bazario’s Schemes’, which added an entire new roguelike open-world mode along with a bunch of quality of life updates and new items, armor and more.
Hino promises in his sales announcement post to “continue to create engaging, high-quality software”, with this large new audience of fans looking forward to seeing what the team has to offer next. Keep your eyes on GameObserver for more breaking gaming news from across the industry.
