Next Nintendo Direct Reportedly Planned For Mid-June

A big Nintendo event seems to be getting closer. It has been a long time since the last general Nintendo Direct, and June is usually the period when major gaming companies reveal new projects. Now, according to reliable industry insider and journalist Jeff Grubb, Nintendo is planning a new Direct presentation around the middle of June 2026.

Speaking during the latest Giant Bombcast podcast, Grubb said the event could happen during the week of Summer Game Fest or shortly after it. He explained, “I’m hearing that there’s going to be a Nintendo Direct by mid June. Obviously, there’s been some scuttle out there about that. They might do it after Summer Game Fest or around Summer Game Fest, I don’t know exactly.” He also said he is not fully sure if it will be a complete Nintendo Direct or a smaller showcase, but because of the timing, he believes it will likely be a full presentation.

Switch 2
Starting September 1, the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 is increasing by $50.

The rumored window points to the second week of June, just after Summer Game Fest, which runs from June 5 to June 8. Nintendo has not yet hosted a large first-party Direct this year, instead relying on the Nintendo Today app and social media announcements for updates.

The company also appears to have many unannounced games planned for the future. Even though Nintendo’s current official release schedule looks fairly light after the launch of the Star Fox remake, the company has already revealed that it is preparing a “robust” lineup of games to help make up for the recent Switch 2 price increase and increase the overall value of the console. This Direct could end up being the best chance for Nintendo to properly show off that lineup.

Nonetheless, though Jeff Grubb’s track record proves him to be a reliable source, this should still be taken with a pinch of salt until it is officially confirmed. Once an official announcement is made, we’ll make sure to let you know here at GameObserver.

In other news, Nintendo has announced a new Switch 2 bundle in the US that lets buyers choose one free exclusive game before the console becomes more expensive in September.
