If you’ve never heard of Gothic, you are missing out. They’re a European classic still held in high regard, with an undeniable influence on many RPGs from the continent. One of these being the genre juggernaut that is The Witcher. For the first time, the trilogy that saw the Nameless Hero’s journey out of the Valley of the Mines and onto the wider continent of Myrtana will be available on modern consoles, with a special deal for those pre-ordering the upcoming Gothic 1 Remake on the platforms.
Following the Nintendo Switch releases of the first two games in 2023, the trilogy is making its way to PlayStation and Xbox. Furthermore, the players who pre-order the upcoming Gothic 1 Remake (out June 5) on the two consoles will receive Gothic Classic—a remastered version of the first game—as a free bonus available immediately upon pre-order. Otherwise, each game can be purchased individually for 29.99 € on PlayStation and Xbox Series S/X. Gothic Classic will release separately on July 28. Gothic II Complete Classic (including the Night of the Raven expansion) will follow on September 29. Lastly, Gothic III Classic will come out on November 24.

The first two games form the Khorinis Saga, revolving around the mining prison colony and the surrounding areas on the island of Khorinis. The Nameless Hero involves himself in ancient mysteries hidden underneath the Mine Valley that serve as the beginning for the upcoming upheaval, bringing out powerful forces threatening an already war-torn Myrtana. The third title takes place in a massive, free-roaming world that sees the returning protagonist tango with the gods themselves across the mainland of Myrtana, the mountains of Nordmar, and the deserts of Varant.
These releases allow players who never had access to the series before to get their hands on it for the very first time, but also to re-experience the classics with updated controls for returning players. Gothic 1 Remake, a nominee for the Most Anticipated award in the 2025 GameObserver Awards, may renew player interest in this long-dormant series following the closure of the original developers—the studio Piranha Bytes—back in 2024.
