The Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) just updated their page for Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, the second major expansion for Blizzard’s Diablo IV. Set to release later this month on April 28, an age rating is entirely expected to be provided for the expansion so close to release. What has been a complete surprise however are the consoles that Diablo IV is listed as supporting, with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC – and Nintendo Switch!
For those unaware, Diablo IV is not available on the Switch, despite high demand from fans who’d like to take their dungeons on the go. In fact, when Eurogamer pressed them on this very topic in February, the company refused to answer, allegedly having “nothing to say on the matter” regarding Nintendo ports of more Diablo games. For context, the third game is available on Switch with the Diablo III: Eternal Collection that released back in 2018.

Whilst Diablo IV is more intense graphically and technologically than Diablo III, it also runs very well on the Steam Deck. The Switch 2 is widely considered to be more capable than the Steam Deck, so it seems surely capable from a hardware perspective to take on Diablo IV. With the Lord of Hatred expansion releasing so soon, the leak from the IRGS suggests Blizzard may have another surprise up its sleeve with the Switch launch sometime soon too.
If it’s true that Diablo IV is coming to the Switch, or more likely the Switch 2, then it would be two releases in quick succession from Blizzard. The legendary game developer just released a Switch 2 version of Overwatch that features enhanced frame rates, clearer visuals and better audio. The current season of Overwatch is also confirmed to have a Diablo crossover coming soon too, which ties everything that we’ve covered together quite nicely!
Diablo IV is available now on PS5, Xbox Series consoles and PC. The Lord of Hatred expansion releases on April 28, and whilst listed by the IGRS for Nintendo Switch has no confirmed release on the platform just yet. We’ll be sure to update this article with additional coverage should the port be announced soon, so check back often to GameObserver.
