Star Wars Eclipse is still a long way from being finished, and new reports say development is moving very slowly. The game was first announced at The Game Awards 2021 and quickly got a lot of attention from fans. However, since then, there have been very few official updates. Several sources now claim that the game is still years away from release.
According to information shared by Insider Gaming, the development of Star Wars Eclipse is progressing “very slowly,” with the last few months reportedly showing only minimal progress. Some periods are said to have been so slow that work on the game almost came to a standstill. While a significant portion of the title is reportedly already finished, the remaining work is proving much harder than expected.

One of the main concerns is funding. Reports suggest that NetEase, Quantic Dream’s parent company, is currently unwilling to provide additional investment for the project. This has created concerns about the studio’s ability to expand its team and speed up development. As one report noted, “The long-term outlook is less driven by creative capabilities and more by financial viability.”
In addition, the source says that the development of Star Wars Eclipse may now depend heavily on the performance of Quantic Dream’s multiplayer game, Spellcasters Chronicles, which recently entered early access. According to the report, if the game turns out to be a success, revenue from that project could provide the funds needed to continue development. However, if the title fails to perform well, NetEase may “reevaluate its commitment” to Quantic Dream, potentially leading to reduced funding or even the eventual cancellation of Eclipse.
Considering all of this, the release of Star Wars Eclipse still appears to be a long way off. That said, Quantic Dream has not confirmed these reports at the moment, so this information should still be taken with a grain of salt.
