Phantom Blade Zero Enters Final Development Stage

If you’ve been waiting for Phantom Blade Zero, there’s some good news. The game has officially entered the final stage of development and is set to launch later this year on September 9.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) talking about the creation of the game, the developers confirmed that “Phantom Blade Zero is currently in the intense, final stages of development. With the time we have left, we are pouring every available resource into pushing every aspect of the game to the absolute limit of our capabilities.”

Another major point highlighted by the developers at S-GAME is that no artificial intelligence was used during certain parts of development. The studio refreshingly said “We will not use AI visual tech that could alter our artists’ original creative intent. We firmly believe that human artistry is not merely a means for creating value; it is the value itself.”

Phantom Blade Zero is scheduled to launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC.

This approach is also clear in the way the team handled the game’s characters, voice work, and weapons. To keep everything consistent, character models were created using facial scans and motion capture from real actors and actresses, while voice work in both Chinese and English was matched with lip-sync by the sound team.

The combat system was built with help from more than 20 martial arts experts, including sword masters from Mount Emei, who provided motion references and combat guidance. They also revealed that weapon prototypes are based on traditional Chinese weaponry, with real replicas forged by master swordsmiths to better understand how weight and length affect movement.

Finally, S-Game traveled across China to scan real-world locations such as ancient towns, ancestral halls, and old factories, which were later reimagined into the game’s world. This added attention to detail is a symbol of commitment from the team behind Phantom Blade Zero, and we’re looking forward to seeing how it shapes up.
