Diablo IV finally looks set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2, and players may not have to wait much longer. According to the ever-reliable leaker billbil-kun, who shared the information on Dealabs, Blizzard’s action RPG will launch on Nintendo’s console in mid-September. However, there is one detail that collectors may not be happy about.
According to the leak, Diablo IV will launch on September 15 or September 18, although Blizzard has not officially confirmed the release date yet. With Gamescom taking place from August 26 to August 30, the event would be the perfect place for Blizzard to officially reveal the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
The leak also claims the game will be sold in stores with a traditional physical edition, but the box will not include a cartridge or game card. Instead, buyers will only find a paper with a digital download code that can be redeemed through the Nintendo eShop. This means Diablo IV will use the “Code in Box” format instead of including a physical game cartridge, which will likely disappoint collectors hoping to add a true physical copy to their collection.
Diablo IV is expected to cost €69.99 / $69.99 / £62.99 on Nintendo Switch 2. It is still unknown whether the package will include only the base game or also the Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions. Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have confirmed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28. In addition, Stellar Blade for Nintendo Switch 2 has officially received an M for Mature (17+) rating from the ESRB. With technically demanding AAA games like these making their way to the console, it looks like it’s only a matter of time before even more demanding titles begin launching on Nintendo Switch 2.
