Death Stranding 2: On the Beach may have surpassed two million copies sold just a few days after the launch of its PC version. According to estimates from the analytics firm Alinea Analytics, the game sold around 425,000 copies on Steam, which played a key role in reaching this milestone. Before that, the game had already sold about 1.4 million copies on PlayStation 5 in its first eight days.
By combining sales from both PC and console, the game is estimated to have generated over $150 million in revenue since launch. An interesting detail is the strong impact of the PC release. The launch on Steam appears to have also boosted PS5 sales, with a clear increase compared to previous discount periods. Daily sales on console reportedly reached up to 12,500 units, with peaks of 12,800.

This increase may be due to more attention from media and players after the PC launch, which helped bring the game back into the spotlight. At the same time, a major update was released on both platforms. Among the new features are additional live-action cutscenes, new items, and a harder difficulty mode called “To The Wilder.” Players can also replay boss fights, and the game now supports ultrawide monitors in 21:9 format. These additions make the game more appealing both for new players and for those who want to return and experience the new content.
The strong performance of the PC version once again shows how bringing PlayStation titles to other platforms like PC can boost both sales and visibility. However, despite this success, Sony is reportedly scaling back its PC port strategy and may return to focusing on console exclusivity for major first-party single-player games to help drive PlayStation 5 sales.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach follows Sam Porter Bridges approximately 11 months after the first game as he travels to a new continent, Australia, to expand the Chiral Network and save humanity from a new extinction threat.
