While Crimson Desert received mixed reviews over its initial performance at launch, consistent updates and hotfixes from Pearl Abyss have helped improve the experience and keep players engaged. As a result, the game has officially surpassed six million copies sold worldwide just 83 days after launching on March 19.
Pearl Abyss CEO Jin-young Heo also thanked players for helping the game reach this milestone, saying, “We are sincerely grateful to players around the world for helping Crimson Desert achieve meaningful success in the global market despite being a new IP. To provide more enjoyable and better experiences, Pearl Abyss will continue moving forward and taking on new challenges.”

The game has maintained impressive sales momentum since release, selling two million copies on launch day, reaching three million copies within its first four days, surpassing 5 million copies in less than a month, and now exceeding 6 million copies sold worldwide just 83 days after launch. Crimson Desert also currently ranks as the second best-selling game in the United States this year, according to market research firm Circana.
Looking ahead, Pearl Abyss has confirmed a series of major updates that will be released between June and September. These updates will bring full cross-save support between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, along with a DLC expansion that is currently in development. The developers said more details about it will be shared in the future. As more information becomes available, we’ll make sure to let you guys know here at GameObserver.
In other news, Pearl Abyss confirmed that some 2D artwork in Crimson Desert was created using generative AI and was “unintentionally included in the release.” However, following backlash and reports of unusual images, the studio removed them from the game.
