The upcoming Control Resonant had a new trailer at yesterday’s State of Play event, and it came with new details regarding the game’s story and a release date. Now confirmed for launch on September 24, the sequel to Remedy Entertainment’s Control is only a few months away. The trailer ended with the Digital Deluxe Edition contents being revealed, but it had an unexpected surprise hidden in the fine print: the 48-hour early access period is exclusive to the PlayStation 5.
Even though the Digital Deluxe Edition is available across platforms at roughly the same price, players on XBOX or PC won’t get any advanced access to Control Resonant even though they’re paying the same price as PS5 gamers.

This is an interesting tactic by Sony that we haven’t really seen before, with the timed exclusivity model usually being year-long windows, rather than having exclusive rights just for a few days early access. PlayStation is getting serious about its exclusivity over games, and seems to be using the Control Resonant Digital Deluxe Edition as a test for a new way to give its players exclusive access to non-exclusive games.
The move was confirmed by the Communications Director over at Remedy, but it also visible in yesterday’s trailer drop as tiny text at the bottom of the screen. For those still opting for the Digital Deluxe Edition, regardless of platform it will also come with a digital artbook, original soundtrack, AWE Mission Outfit, starter resource bundle and an “untapped artifact.”

Control Resonant releases September 24 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Remedy recently shared that they’re looking forwards to Grand Theft Auto 6, as they join the mass of games pushing for a September launch.
