Remedy Believes GTA 6 Will Help The Entire Industry, Including Control Resonant

Grand Theft Auto VI is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of all time, and many people believe it could overshadow other games releasing around it. With so much attention expected to go toward Rockstar Games’ huge release, some publishers are even thinking about delaying their own games to avoid competing with it.

However, Remedy Entertainment CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon does not see things that way. In fact, Gaudechon believes the release of GTA 6 in November could become a huge positive for the entire gaming industry, including Remedy’s upcoming Control Resonant.

Control Resonant
Control Resonant is officially scheduled to release this year.

In a recent interview with The Game Business, the CEO explained that he sees GTA 6 as something that could bring more attention to gaming overall instead of hurting other game releases. He said, “It’s going to put the spotlight even more on games than maybe in past years. Hopefully [GTA] will sell consoles. And raise the tide for all the players out there.”

Gaudechon believes one of the biggest benefits will be console sales. He expects GTA 6 to lead many people into buying new consoles, especially PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, since the game is currently only planned for those platforms. As more people buy these consoles, the number of possible players for games like Control Resonant will also grow.

Another important thing for Remedy is that the company focuses more on long-term sales instead of only huge launch-week numbers. Games like Control and Alan Wake 2 continued making money for months and years because player interest stayed strong over time and Remedy continued to support them. And with Remedy’s unique storytelling style, the studio has the ability stand out even during the massive GTA 6 launch period.

“[For us], it’s less about trying to make your money back in a few days. Now you’ve got multiple ways to have a longer tail. It’s going be fun. You can expect quality from us. You can expect a voice that will cut through the noise. Expect us to be as loud as we can and hopefully pique people’s interest,” he added. Control Resonant is currently scheduled to release sometime later this year, although an exact date has not been announced yet.
