As we recently reported, the PS5 Pro has received a game-changing new form of upscaling with the new and improved form of their PSSR technology. As was first used by Resident Evil Requiem, the improved model for their upscaling technology sees considerable improvement to image quality, stability and clarity when moving the camera in crowded scenes. We now know the next two games that will use these improved PSSR features, and they’re from the folks over at Remedy Entertainment!
Both Control Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2 will be officially supported titles to use the improved PS5 Pro technology, and it’s coming “soon”. Both of these games are incredibly detailed and visually impressive, particularly Alan Wake 2 with how essential the use of lighting is to its presentation and atmosphere. The new PSSR support will likely make the image much clearer without sacrificing on frame rates or performance.

Whilst Control Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2 are both officially supporting the new and improved PSSR model, all games that support the original PSSR will still be able to use the new technology, just in an unsupported way. You can force the new PSSR upscaling on games using the old model in your PS5 Pro settings menu, but there’s always going to be the risk of visual bugs in the titles without officially listed support.
There are more than 50 games that support PSSR on the PS5 Pro, which is quite the catalogue that will be receiving some potentially significant improvements. We’ll be sure to report on the latest PSSR supported games so you can make the most of your PS5 Pro, so be sure to check back often to GameObserver for the latest in breaking gaming news.
