Take-Two CEO Comments On GTA VI Pricing, Looking To “Charge Way Less” Than Its Value

Since Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the biggest and most anticipated games in recent years, and is even forcing other publishers to rethink their own release schedules, many players were worried that Rockstar’s new title could launch at a very high price. The case of Mario Kart World costing $80 also made many people think that GTA VI could cost $100 or even more.

However, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s recent comments strongly push back against those speculations. Speaking at a conference, he explained that Take-Two’s goal is to give players so much value that the price feels much lower than what they actually receive. He said the company wants to create such an “amazing” experience that players feel they are paying “way, way, way less” than the actual value of the game.

GTA VI is set to be one of the biggest entertainment launches in history.

“Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery,” Zelnick added. “How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got.”

Even though GTA VI is expected to be a massive game, Take-Two will likely focus more on selling more copies rather than setting an extremely high launch price. Considering these recent comments, it seems the game will stay within the standard AAA pricing range, around $70 to $80, instead of jumping to $100.

GTA VI is currently planned for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while a PC version has not been announced yet. As more news and rumors about the game continue to appear, we will make sure to keep you updated here at GameObserver.
