As of Late, Nintendo has given love to some of its more neglected series in the last few years, with a new Pikmin, a new Starfox, and even Metroid Prime 4. That trend looks to be continuing, as Metroid might be getting a new game if Diário Oficial da União, the official gazette of the Brazilian federal government, is any indication. Appearing on page 99, under the heading for Secretaria Nacional de Direitos Digitais, or National Secretary of Digital Rights, is the name Metroid Ravenous.
The filing appears to come from Nintendo of America with a recommendation not to be played by children under the age of 12 and a production date of 2026. While that date does not guarantee a 2026 release, the fact that it is listed and the fact that the game is being submitted for a rating classification at all are indicative that the game is probably close to release if not release-ready.

No details were provided about the type of game Metroid: Ravenous would be, who developed it, or even what console it would be releasing for, so there’s a chance it could be releasing for the Switch 2, or it could be a mobile game. The absence of “Prime” in the title suggests it is not likely to continue the story from last year’s Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and probably is a return to the 2D action style that defines the mainline Metroid series.
This is just speculation, but the title could be referencing the Metroid DNA that Samus was bonded with during Fusion and Dread. Perhaps it is out of control, and Samus must fight to keep it in check. We won’t know anything for sure until an official announcement. What do you want from a Metroid Dread sequel?
