Cyberpunk 2077 is finally receiving the long-awaited PS5 Pro update, and CD Projekt has now confirmed both the release date and the full list of graphical improvements. The free patch goes live on April 8 (that’s tomorrow at time of writing), bringing major upgrades to resolution, ray tracing and performance, making Night City look better than ever on Sony’s most powerful and expensive console.
In a post on the official Playstation Blog, Kuba Knapik, the Global Art Director at CD Projekt Red, said “We wanted to make the most of the PS5 Pro’s cutting-edge technology by bringing 4K visuals, powered-up performance, advanced ray tracing, and more to the Cyberpunk 2077 experience.”

The update introduces three display modes for PS5 Pro users. Ray Tracing Pro is the most advanced visual option, enabling a full set of ray-tracing features, including reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion, skylight, and emissive lighting. Ray Tracing mode offers what CD Projekt describes as a “sweet spot,” combining select ray-tracing enhancements with a smooth 60 FPS target. Finally, Performance Mode focuses on delivering the highest possible frame rate for fluid gameplay, reaching up to 90 FPS on VRR-enabled displays.
A major part of the update is the use of Sony’s new PSSR 2 technology, which improves image quality through advanced upscaling. CD Projekt described the results by saying, “The result is incredible, with every inch of Night City — every thermal katana, every gonk on the street, every supercharged sports car — coming to life.” In addition, ray tracing has also been upgraded, with the implementation of 8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy (BVH8) support allowing for more accurate lighting calculations and bringing the game’s atmosphere closer to the developers’ original artistic vision.
This update is purely technical and does not include any new missions or story content. Nonetheless, since the launch of the PS5 Pro, players had repeatedly been asking when Cyberpunk 2077 would receive its long-awaited patch, and CD Projekt has now finally delivered it.
