If you’re a fan of The Witcher series, or maybe you just like to keep up with gaming leaks, then you might be familiar with the rumblings of a third DLC for The Witcher 3. Originally releasing in 2015, it would be a significant story if, over a decade later, the developers at CD Projekt Red did suddenly announce an additional expansion for the legendary RPG. This story becomes even more interesting with The Witcher 4 slowly appearing on the horizon following its reveal back in 2024.
But what credibility is there to these rumors? What would a new DLC for The Witcher 3 even look like in 2026? That’s what we’re here to answer! Here’s everything we’ve heard about The Witcher 3‘s rumored new DLC so far – and keep in mind that everything is still just speculative.
When did The Witcher 3‘s new DLC rumors begin?

It all started back in June 2025, as Polish podcasters Rock and Boris shared that they believe a new story DLC is coming to The Witcher 3. They said they had official confirmation from several independent sources at the time.
Since then, others have weighed in on this story too. For example, there’s analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski from Noble Securities, a Polish brokerage company. Chrzanowski has spoken several times about The Witcher 3‘s rumored DLC, himself confirming it to be real, along with citing figures for its development costs and sales expectations. He last commented on the DLC this month (February 2026), so it’s an ongoing and continuous rumor. Even IGN Poland has weighed in, also reaffirming the rumor.
Are The Witcher 3 DLC rumors credible?

Whilst the sources of the rumor Rock and Boris are popular podcasters in Poland, they aren’t exactly known as major game journalists. However, the inclusion of other Polish individuals weighing in on the rumors adds credibility to the source. For example, Noble Securities is a real financial company in Poland, and to have their analyst Chrzanowski speak on the topic so publicly does suggest some validity, or at least a strong enough belief to risk the backlash.
Furthermore, CD Projekt Red have perhaps slightly leaned into the rumors themselves. Dennis Zopfi, the new combat director at CD Projekt Red, ominously posted on social media earlier this week on February 5 to simply say “the wind is howling.” Whilst obviously a reference to Geralt’s famous saying in The Witcher, it comes simultaneous to the rumors of a new DLC for The Witcher 3, so it seems more like a tease.
What will be in The Witcher 3‘s third DLC, and who’s making it?

According to the initial report from Rock and Boris, The Witcher 3‘s new DLC will have actually been developed by Fool’s Theory, not by CD Projekt Red themselves. This was likely done so the main CD Projekt Red team can continue to dedicate their efforts to The Witcher 4, whilst still being able to see The Witcher 3 get a new update to generate hype.
Word around what will actually be in the DLC is sparse, but we do have some small details. Analyst Chrzanowski has described the rumored DLC as being part of the marketing for The Witcher 4, whilst also being its own playable content around as long as the Blood and Wine DLC. IGN’s coverage also reports that the DLC will be set in the desert region of Zerrikania.
When does The Witcher 3 DLC release?

Rumors, again fuelled by Chrzanowski, currently estimate a summer release for The Witcher 3‘s third DLC expansion. With a State of Play event from PlayStation likely coming up soon, along with the constant possibility of a CD Projekt Red random announcement, it could honestly be any time now that we hear about what’s next in the world of The Witcher.
