Warframe Shares New Look At The Tau System Star Chart

In their latest Devstream, the team at Digital Extremes shared new glimpses of the new solar system, Tau. In the next expansion of the same name, players will have an entire new playground of planets to explore. To kick off the system, two zones will be available: Fornax and Perita.

In addition to the main quest of the Tau expansion, new variants of cooperative gameplay modes, including a revamped Survival mission, will be available in these new locations. DE also shared a look at MANIFOLD 90-BF, the new social hub on the mafia-riddled Fornax full of new characters, rivals, and lore secrets to uncover. While players had a chance to take a look at the Perita from a long time ago in the previous expansion, now they will discover what became of the planet and encounter The Cleaving Glaive, a new ally Syndicate scavenging the Perita wasteland in search of Tau secrets.

With the Tau expansion, a new Warframe is joining the roster as well: Brysko, the noir-detective-inspired frame voiced by Matthew Mercer. At Tennocon, DE shared some of Brysko’s abilities, but in this devstream they showcased his entire kit, including a Hound companion that brings Brysko back to life, and abilities infused with the casino themes of the expansion, such as gambling and cards. Speaking of cards, that in-game Portau card game takes life, as DE announced that the Portau Card Collection and Portau Playmat are available to pre-order.

For those Fashionframe players, some announcements were made too. Koumei is getting its first-ever Deluxe Skin, Koumei Enshoujo, an avant-garde cosmetic design that fits with the noir femme fatale themes the Tau expansion brings. New concept art of the Nezha Heirloom Skin was teased as well. Additionally, some quality-of-life fixes are coming, such as an improvement to the Prime vaulting system, with over ten Prime sets now being earnable permanently in the Tau system. The days of waiting periods of time to earn an old Prime set are coming to an end.

While the Tau System brings both new content and quality-of-life features, this doesn’t mean it is the end for the Origin System. “Today is the first of two detailed looks at Warframe: Tau, and we have so much left for players to discover with us before this update arrives later this year,” said Megan Everett, Community Director at Digital Extremes. “We have a ton of surprises for our next Devstream on November 27, so please stay tuned for more! To all our players, new and returning, the Origin System is not being left behind. While we focus right now on Tau, we have so many stories to tell, and now just have more places to share them.” The Tau expansion will be arriving in December, with an exact date being revealed in the November Devstream.
