Weekly Mobile & Gacha Roundup: Qingxiao Makes Waves Across the August Charts | GameObserver

Fate/Grand Order continues to command the ranks as we reach the end of August, while other anime titles are left fighting to stay in the Top 10. This week’s charts cover August 17 to 21 and are based on estimated top-grossing rankings from Sensor Tower and AppMagic. Note that the figures below combine estimates across both Android and iOS.

Aniplex’s ever-popular Fate gacha is maintaining a steady grip this month so far, holding firm at the number one spot in Japan and still clinging to the 8th on the ruthless global charts. Meanwhile, after being kicked out of the charts, Wuthering Waves is riding high again this week. Despite having just released Version 3.6 ‘Lamplight in Mirage, Sword’s Resolve in Heart’ a few days ago, which debuted the new 5-star Aero Sword Resonator, Qingxiao, the update appears to have quickly boosted players’ spending.

Wuthering Waves’ update actually follows Neverness to Everness‘s ‘Rising from the Moonlit Fog’ Version 1.3 that introduced the S-Class Esper Zanhong on the 19th. Interestingly, the game is currently running an offline ‘PC Cafe Vacation’ event from August 21 to 25 in Korea, where local popular net cafes feature stamp rallies, cosplay showcases, and even stage events like voice actor talk shows. Combined with the digital summer event that’s also available for other regions, which adds swimwear outfits and the Volley Star minigame, Hotta Studio’s anime GTA might just pull big numbers this August. And that’s counting another AI-generated asset controversy it landed on again recently.

Despite landing on another AI art controversy, NTE proved its popularity and profitability this week.

Elsewhere, although still trailing behind, Zenless Zone Zero managed to hold its ground at the 6th spot of the Korean chart. hololive Dreams, too, is proving its staying power so far. After a brief dip, it has rebounded into the Top 3 in Japan and grabbed the 10th place on the global rankings. Here’s how major mobile and gacha games performed across key regions for the week of August 17 to 21.
