Warframe’s Devstream #196 took place today, and fans have a lot to look forward to during the summer. The team at Digital Extremes announced the next narrative chapter, a new Warframe, Protoframes, Railjack content, and more. Additional information for other events, like Tennocon, was also shared by the team.
The next narrative adventure in Warframe is a sequel to the previous quest, Jade Shadows, with the continuation, Jade Shadows: Constellations. This quest will bring the 65th Warframe and one of the most unique, since it consists of two playable characters in one: Sirius and Orion. “Our character design team really pushed themselves to the limit with creating two playable Warframes in one,” said Megan Everett, Warframe Community Director. “It’s been so inspiring to see the gameplay and the narrative of this update seamlessly blend together.” Sirius and Orion will both be accompanied in their quest by two Protoframes: Ryoku (Ash) or Vena (Garuda).
Sirius and Orion’s abilities include:
- Share a passive ability banking star constellation motes tied to each Warframe’s main abilities and switch between the two at will.
- As Sirius, throw his signature scythe like a boomerang capable of picking up orbs and ammo, litter the battlefield with mini unstable stars and send them exploding toward enemies, or draw an expanding zone of healing and damage reduction for allies.
- As Orion, swing a massive horizontal slash that significantly reduces enemy defenses, envelop yourself in an astral shell that deploys a decoy when you take damage, or summon a supermassive black hole to move forward, pulling enemies into its center.
- Push the rivalry to a climactic clash as a shared ultimate ability, taking the duo airborne to clash against one another and damage anything caught in their path. Time the switches between the two Warframes correctly to increase their damage on each subsequent clash.
This quest will also add a fan-requested element: new Railjack content. After the Jade Shadows: Constellations quest is completed, the new Railjack missions will be available on Uranus Proxima. Players will have to choose between Ryoku or Vena’s team, and will be playing in their respective custom Railjack ships. Jade Shadows: Constellations and the Railjack content will be available on June 17. Additionally, the next Prime Warframe was also announced to be Styanax Prime, who will be joining on the same date.
For the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 5, Digital Extremes shared that they will be partnering with the event to gift Twitch viewers a free Dante Warframe. For Tennocon, some cast members of the game were announced to be attending, including Ben Starr (Arthur) with the Warframe team, while Jennifer English will join the Soulframe panel for more information on DE’s next game. Popular cosplayers like Hoku Props and Blink Cosplay were also announced to be joining the celebration. Speaking of cosplay and fashion, the Mesa Heirloom skin will be available to buy during Tennocon week, July 11.
In addition to all these big announcements, other Quality of Life features like new camera options, Junction Boss updates, and more will make their way to Warframe with Jade Shadows: Constellations.
