The vast and endless roster of Fortnite collaborations is about to get bigger, as South Park has finally been confirmed to be getting its own Fortnite crossover – and it’s coming this week. This Friday, that’s January 9 at time of writing, the South Park collaboration will release on the Fortnite item shop and the possibilities are endless.
The collaboration was confirmed on X (formerly Twitter), with the official Fortnite account sharing an image of South Park character Butters playing Fortnite on a PC, with his username being 67Cha0s67. Because of course it is! Sharp-eyed fans have noticed that the Fortnite screenshot on Butters screen shows a five-player squad lobby, with the long-rumored quintuple squads mode seemingly being teased for a release alongside the South Park crossover.
Despite this initial teaser image with Butters, we actually have no idea what the South Park crew will look like in Fortnite, or what forms they’re going to take. Fortnite characters need to be somewhat vaguely humanoid and tall in shape to prevent gameplay advantages to those who own some skins over others. The collaboration with fellow adult animated show The Simpsons put their child characters in humanoid mechs to increase their size, whilst the unexpected SpongeBob SquarePants crossover added the small sea sponge as a sidekick to follow players around rather than play as him. Alternatively, perhaps Epic Games will follow the LEGO Ninjago route, creating new, fully-sized human forms for the kid cast of South Park.
