Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy – All Blades Locations And Abilities

There are plenty of swords/blades to find as you make your way through Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and collecting them is worth doing if you want to change the way Sofia fights. Some of these blades are given to you automatically as you move through the story, while others are hidden inside tombs and require you to solve puzzles before you can reach them. Each special blade also comes with its own technique, which gives Sofia different options during combat.

Finding all eight base blades will also unlock the “Plunderer” Achievement, while defeating an enemy with each of them unlocks the “Adaptable” Achievement. There is also the Hero’s Sword, which is a bonus DLC weapon and is not needed for these achievements.

Below, we’ll show you where to find all eight main blades, as well as the bonus Hero’s Sword, and explain what each one does.

How To Unlock All Blades In Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

all blades in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
There are 8 main blades in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and 1 bonus DLC blade.
Rusty Sword – Chapter 1

The Rusty Sword is the first blade you’ll get and is automatically unlocked during Chapter 1 when Sofia reaches the desert village. It becomes part of your inventory as you follow the story, so there’s no puzzle or hidden chest to worry about.

This is Sofia’s standard starting weapon and doesn’t come with a special technique or ability.

Falchion – Chapter 2
Falchion Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Falchion deals bonus damage after Sofia lands a successful Critical Strike.

You’ll get the Falchion automatically during Chapter 2. After recovering your equipment with Leni, you’ll find the weapon in the stash inside the barrel next to the water, where you’ll also recover the grappling hook. Since it’s part of the main story, you don’t need to go looking for it separately.

The Falchion comes with Momentum Strike, which lets you deal extra damage with the weapon immediately after successfully landing a Critical Strike.

Hero’s Blade – Chapter 2

The Hero’s Blade is a bonus weapon included with the Heritage Pack DLC and is available to Special Edition/pre-order owners. If you only own the base game, you won’t be able to get it, but don’t worry, as it isn’t required for the weapon achievements.

It becomes available during Chapter 2 alongside the Falchion, after Sofia recovers her equipment from the barrel next to the water with Leni. Its technique is Momentum Strike, exactly the same as the Falchion, allowing you to deal extra damage after successfully landing a Critical Strike.

Kopis – Chapter 4
Kopis Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Kopis deals powerful stun damage with the final hit of a combo.
You’ll find the Kopis during Chapter 4 while making your way through the ancient temple and caves along the main path. Eventually, you’ll come across a skull-shaped statue. Interact with the pedestal next to it to open a passage in the floor. Head down the stairs into the new area, where you’ll find another statue and a chest. Open the chest to get the Kopis.

The Kopis comes with Stagger Blow, which makes the final hit of your normal attack combo deliver a powerful blow that deals heavy stun damage.

Greek Sword – Chapter 5
Greek Sword Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Spinning Slash lets the Greek Sword damage nearby enemies with a wide spinning attack.

The Greek Sword can be found during Chapter 5 as part of the four-door symbol trial. From the central area, take the path under the circular symbol with several points, or the circle with three lines. Continue along the path and deal with the enemies, but don’t take the stairs leading to the green doors. Instead, go around the area until you reach a camp with a large skull-shaped structure and a closed entrance in the ground.

On the left are platforms leading to several metal circles. Stand on the one furthest to the left and use the sphere to activate the gems. Aim at the green gem at the base first, then adjust the colored beams until the red beam connects with the upper gem and the blue beam reaches the gem on the ground.

Once everything is lined up correctly, the entrance to the camp will open. Head down into the tomb to collect the Greek Sword. Its Spinning Slash technique replaces Critical Strikes with a wide spinning attack that damages all nearby enemies.

Sica – Chapter 6
Sica Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Sica increases Sofia’s Focus Gauge whenever she kills an enemy.

The Sica is found during Chapter 6 in the Daedalus maze section. After collecting Daedalus’ key and opening the door next to the stairs on the main path, continue through the tunnel until you reach a fork. Take the path on the left to enter a chamber containing another skull statue.

Make your way across the gaps and, once you’re down below, look for the columns to the left of the statue. Climb them until you reach a position where you can use the sphere. Switch the sphere to beam mode and direct the green beam toward the gem at the base of the statue. Then adjust it so the red beam reaches the reflector on the distant column while the blue beam points downward.

Completing the puzzle opens an entrance underneath the statue. Go down into the tomb to find the Sica. Its Focus Rush technique restores part of Sofia’s Focus Gauge every time you kill an enemy with the blade.

Khopesh – Chapter 7
Khopesh Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Khopesh causes a serious wound that continues dealing damage over time.

The Khopesh appears during Chapter 7 on the path toward the Black Tower. After making your way through the area, use the grappling hook to pull down the debris blocking your way and leave the small underground area. Head up the stairs and turn left toward the old cemetery area, where you’ll find another skull statue. This time, the upper part of the skull has fallen off and is lying in front of it.

Look for the circular metal plate on the ground near the skull and stand on it. Switch the sphere to colored beam mode and aim at the green gem at the upper-right side of the sealed doors. Rotate the beams so the red one reaches the gem above the column and the blue one connects with the gem on the cliff wall behind the skull.

Once the setup is complete, the doors will open. Climb the platforms on the right and enter the newly opened area. From there, head down into the tomb to collect the Khopesh. Its Deep Bleed technique makes the final hit of your main attack combo cause a serious wound that continues damaging the enemy for a period of time.

Broken Spear – Chapter 9
Broken Spear Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Broken Spear can pierce enemy guards and shields after a Sprint Attack.

You’ll find the Broken Spear during Chapter 9. After killing several soldiers near a bonfire, Sofia will move through a gap, and a short scene will play in which a soldier is petrified by the creature ahead. Once the scene ends and you can control Sofia again, enter the open area with the ruined buildings and paths. Instead of continuing straight ahead, turn left just after passing the petrified soldier.

Follow the grass-covered path around the corner until you reach a platform. Climb up, and you’ll find two light sources at the base of another skull-shaped statue. From here, take the stairs down into the nearby tomb, where you’ll find the Broken Spear.

Its Sprint Assault technique lets you pierce through enemy guards and defensive shields after performing an attack while sprinting.

Xiphos – Chapter 10
Xiphos Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Xiphos increases stun damage after a successful parry.

The final base blade is the Xiphos, which can be found during Chapter 10 in the open area away from the rotating gem puzzle door. Move toward the opposite end of the area and cross the water. On the other side, look for an entrance hidden behind the reeds. Enter the cave and use the grapple point to reach another skull statue.

Next to it is a pedestal that activates several beams of sunlight. Once they’re active, move to the platform behind and to the right of the statue.

From the top, use the sphere in colored beam mode. Aim at the green gem at the base of the pillar and adjust the beams so the red one reaches the gem on the left and the blue one reaches the gem on the ground. You’ll also need to break the vase to reveal the blue gem. Once the beams are in the correct positions, the entrance in the floor will open. Head down into the tomb and collect the Xiphos.

Its Parry Break technique greatly increases the stun damage Sofia deals after successfully parrying an incoming attack. There is a downside, though: while the Xiphos is equipped, Sofia loses the ability to perform a normal block.
