In a rather surprising and sudden announcement, Remedy Entertainment just revealed Control Ultimate Edition‘s latest port – on iPhones. Somehow, the tech wizards at the company have created a new version of the game specifically built for mobile, with Control Ultimate Edition now being available on Apple’s App Store for just $4.99.
The mobile-exclusive version comes with reworked interfaces and gameplay systems, so it’s easier to play on a screen from the palm of your hands. As such, touch controls have also been implemented so you don’t even need to pair any additional devices or controllers to enjoy the most the game has to offer. The touch adaptations change the way players aim and certain puzzles. Remedy also say the game retains the “intensity and unpredictability of the original” even on smaller screens, using ray tracing on select hardware.

As you might imagine, you’ll need an iPhone or iPad device that’s capable of running such an intense game, and a lot of storage. Control Ultimate Edition takes up 45GB of space, and requires an iPhone or iPad with an A17 Pro chip (or later), although iPads can also have an M-series chip to be compatible. To be specific, that’s any iPhone after the iPhone 15 Pro or any iPad Pro after the 3rd generation or iPad Air/Pro devices with an M chip.
As the game is listed on the App Store, it’s also available to play on MacBook devices, all within the $5 price tag of the mobile purchase. The Mac port requires a Mac with an M1 chip or later to successfully run the app, as it’s using the same foundations as the mobile build. Intel-based Macs cannot run Control Ultimate Edition via the App Store.

For those unfamiliar, Control Ultimate Edition is the enhanced version of Control, the 2019 action-adventure from Remedy Entertainment. The game follows a secret agent as she investigates strange phenomena in the form of alien entities , with open areas and non-linear progression. It recently also got a PS5 Pro update to utilize Sony’s latest PSSR improvements.
If you’ve already played Control, or you’re picking up Control Ultimate Edition for iPhone, there’s a sequel to look forward to coming later this year too. Control Resonant releases sometime in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows and macOS.
