If you are a Call of Duty fan who does not like the cartoon-style cosmetics and wants a more realistic game, it looks like the developers have finally heard you. For the upcoming Modern Warfare 4, Infinity Ward has promised that cosmetics and collaborations will stay true to the game’s realistic style.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Infinity Ward made the message very clear, “No Lady Gaga. No Omni-Man. No Teletubbies. No SpongeBob. Keep the receipts.” They also said that every part of Modern Warfare 4 must fit the game’s narrative. That includes character skins, weapon blueprints, and collaborations.

They stated, “Every aspect of Modern Warfare 4 is anchored in the game’s narrative. Every feature, every decision needs to feel authentic to what Modern Warfare is, and that includes cosmetics and collabs. We’re committed to keeping it grounded and transparent, and we want to hear from you on what you’d like to see in our game.”
Infinity Ward then continued replying to fans and gave more examples of what will not be included. When someone asked about Nicki Minaj, the team gave a clear answer, “Nah, no Nicki.” So anyone waiting for her return should not expect it this time. It’s worth noting that this rule is not only for launch, as the studio says it will also apply to future seasonal updates too. “We got the feedback. No BS. This is all about staying true to Modern Warfare. No clowny skins for launch and seasons beyond,” they added.
In other news, Call of Duty is returning to Nintendo after more than a decade with Modern Warfare 4. While some players had doubts about how the game would run on the console, Infinity Ward says it runs “pretty smoothly” on Switch 2 and that there are “no problems to report.”
