Famitsu: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Sells 500K In 4 Days

Every Thursday, Famitsu releases a weekly chart breaking down how physical boxed games and consoles sold in Japan. This week’s chart covers April 13 to 19, as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream makes a giant arrival with over half a million copies sold in just four days. Since launching on April 16, Nintendo’s whacky life simulation sold over 565,000 physical copies in Japan on Nintendo Switch.

Since Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has no dedicated Switch 2 version, it’s charting only on the original hardware. Another game facing the same situation is Pragmata, with its PlayStation 5 launch securing #2 thanks to over 36,000 physical sales, but its delayed Switch 2 launch is expected to also make splash when it drops next week. So far across platforms and worldwide, Pragmata has already sold a million units.

As for the hardware market, Switch 2 sales dropped to 44,000 units sold whilst the original Switch a saw a surge up to 31,000 consoles sold, narrowing the gap between Nintendo’s two generations. The PS5 continued seeing low sales, shifting just another 10,000 units.

Nintendo has yet another hit on their hands with the return of Tomodachi Life.

Here’s the full Famitsu software sales chart for the April 13 to 19 period, along with the lifetime sales of each game.
