Dungeon Tourists, showcased at the 2026 Wholesome Direct, is a quirky little game, an on-rails cooperative multiplayer rail shooter. And by shooting, it means photos. You play as a customizable animal creature armed only with a camera as you take a ride through a dungeon, trying to snap all the best shots of the creepy crawlies and cute critters that inhabit each dungeon. Dungeon entities included bats, slimes, water striders, cannons, and swinging blades on chains, all of which could be photographed for points. A creature so large only its eye could be seen also appeared, but whether or not it counted for points wasn’t shown.

The trailer showed snippets of the various mechanics, like the limited roll of film per run, the ability to throw items to interact with the dungeon denizens, apples and orange slices appeared to be bait to attract the attention of the various creatures along the rail, while a spiked ball could also be seen, presumably to bother monsters for a different reaction. Apples can be picked up mid-ride, and it’s possible to be struck by dungeon elements and knocked out, unable to take photos for several seconds, suggesting a larger amount of interactivity than other photography rail shooters.
The player avatar is a fully customizable anthropomorphic cat, and numerous sets of fur patterns, colors, eyes, mouth, voice, title, clothes, as well as the type of camera your tourist takes pictures with. Several are available to start, more can be unlocked by taking more and better photos, filling up the bestiary, and unlocking new dungeon areas to explore and photograph.
Your photos can also be downloaded to Steam, or shared directly with friends in-game. Speaking of friends, the game supports up to four-player multiplayer, including chat functionality, and multiple players can ride together to take photos cooperatively.

Dungeon Tourists has only been announced to release on Steam. It doesn’t yet have a release date, but it does have a Steam page if you want to wishlist it! For more indie game and showcase news, stay tuned to GameObserver!
