A free major expansion for Discounty is out now. This was announced at the 2026 Wholesome Direct, and players can get it on Steam and consoles. Many new gameplay features are added to the game with the ‘People or Profit’ expansion. It focuses on players’ choices and their impact on the town of Blomkest. You will also see a new final chapter of the game along with three new endings.

Players can continue the story from where they stopped playing, but if they start from scratch, they get to experience the new choice features and see their impact on the overall plot. Depending on the player’s actions, the storyline will branch to different endings. They can choose to care only about profit, or they can contribute to the community.
They won’t be forced to make the meaner decisions anymore, which they had to in the original game for the growth of their business. They can instead choose to make Blomkest a better place to be. They can repair several broken buildings in the town to bring them back to their former state. So, Discounty can now be a wholesome store for the town, instead of being a sort of parasite on the community.

The game also added some new features for accessibility and making your gameplay less tedious. Players can place barcodes for quicker scanning during checkouts. Self-checkout is also added, which will give them more time to roam around and tend to other issues in the shop. Customers can also buy your products by purchasing them online.
Things are going to look busier as 35 new items will be added through the expansion. They are briefly shown in the trailer as well, so players can guess what some of them are. Players can now also upgrade their housing and give it a new look. For more news on all things indie, stay tuned to GameObserver!
