It’s almost time for Fortnite Festival to get a new headlining artist, as the current season with Lisa as the leading Icon is ending next week. From February 5 we’re going to be getting a new artist to headline the game mode and to earn in the Music Pass, and it seems that teases toward the next artist have been found in-game. The appearance of a mysterious pink pony is heavily hinting towards one artist above all others: Chappell Roan.
The legendary pop princess Chappell Roan is known for her smash hit Pink Pony Club amongst others, and Fortnite is using that iconography to not-so-subtly hint towards the next Fortnite Festival artist. A new room can be found on the island that has a dance floor, a medieval-themed bedroom, and crucially, a dancing pink pony. All of these hint towards Chappell Roan, as she’s also known for using medieval knight and fantasy imagery in her performances and on tours.
The rollout for Chappell Roan’s arrival in Fortnite is very similar to that of Sabrina Carpenter’s last year. Clues were added to the map with iconography that heavily hinted towards her arrival, and eventually it was confirmed just a few days prior to the next Fortnite Festival season beginning. With Lisa leaving Fortnite Festival next week on Thursday, we wouldn’t be surprised if this coming week starts with our first glimpse at Chappell Roan in-game.
As Fortnite Festival artists receive both a Music Pass skin and an item shop skin, Chappell will likely be no exception. Current speculation in Fortnite fan communities suggests one of her outfits in-game will likely be a regular performance outfit, whilst the other is expected to be her in a knight costume, a reference to her VMAs performance of Good Luck, Babe whilst dressed in wonderfully medieval couture.
