Needing no introduction, Fortnite has become arguably the biggest battle royale game out there, and it’s a personal favorite of mine too. It’s been part of its DNA since the beginning, but especially recently Fortnite has struck gold with their collaborations and licenses, gathering franchises and characters from practically everywhere to introduce them to their own game – and creating a hype cycle for each drop just as big as the main game mode itself.
Gamers all over the world are always waiting for the next big announcement, whether it is a new Fortnite Festival artist, a celebrity, movie or gaming characters; even just returning skins that may have been missed out on the first time around gets people excited. Needless to say, there’s a lot of discussion as to what else can be added to the multiversal juggernaut of modern gaming, so here’s our personal list of most wanted collaborations to be added in Fortnite this year. Be sure to let us know your own in the comments or on social media too!
1. Spider-Man (again)

The world’s most famous super-hero Spider-Man always makes it big wherever he is, and Fortnite is no exception. The first time the web-slinger found his way into Fortnite’s storm was in late 2021 through the ‘Flipped’ Battle Pass at the time. As most would know, battle pass skins are exclusive to their seasons, and never come back after their respective season ends. This means that anybody who didn’t play Fortnite in a brief period back in 2021 can never acquire the classic Spider-Man outfit again. I’ve got it myself, but I still think it’s a shame to see so many missing out on the friendly neighbourhood hero. They’ve done a lot of Spider-Man collaborations since, but none of them hit quite as hard as the comic original appearance.
Fortnite’s player base has grown substantially since, which brings back an inherent and recurring issue with battle passes: if you miss out then you will always miss out, and this is especially huge when one of the most popular characters ever is out of reach for most players. They did it with Darth Vader too! We’re not trying to dismantle the concept of limited time items as they do keep active players engaged, but there are definitely ways to please both fans and Epic Games, especially with such a diverse character as Spider-Man. One opportunity we see in this situation is for Fortnite to take a chance with the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will feature a new suit for Spidey that’s very reminiscent of his classic red and blue suit. That way, fans can have another shot at acquiring the hero in his iconic classic look without having to break Fortnite’s own set of rules regarding battle pass skins. Plus, whoever has the original one from 2021 can still retain that sense of exclusivity. Everyone wins.
2. Five Nights At Freddy’s

More than 10 years since its original game, Five Nights at Freddy’s has jumped from being an indie hit to becoming one of horror’s biggest names. As the franchise grows then so does the character roster, and Five Nights at Freddy’s has no shortage of iconic and fan-loved characters that, if added to Fortnite, would immediately become best sellers, since these animal animatronics have massive set value. Players would likely purchase the entire collection to be fully kitted out with the whole Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza band, and there’s so many different iterations already they could create.
They have more than enough characters and possible styles for skins that Fortnite could easily have more than 3 or 4 waves of Five Nights at Freddy’s cosmetics. Toy Chica would definitely be an instant fan favorite so we’d all grab the Toy bundle, but then there’s the Withered bunch, the classic set, all the side characters. It’s an endless opportunity for money, and we’re all willing to pay up!
3. Transformers (done right)

A couple years ago, Fortnite saw the introduction of the Transformers as part of the promotional rollout (get it?) for the then upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to the big screen. Iconic robots in disguise Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron got their Fortnite debut, with Optimus being one of the dreaded battle pass exclusives. However, many fans were expecting more, as Transformers’ 40+ year history has so much more to offer, whether it was more skins from the other iconic Autobots and Decepticons, alternate styles for Megatron and Bumblebee, equippable items or even map events.
Transformers is such a good property to adapt into the gaming space, and if Hasbro isn’t doing it then somebody has to! I bet most players, regardless of their familiarity with the franchise, would love to play Battle Royale on a Cybertron map, or wield immensely powerful Energon cannons to cause destruction to their foes. Our preferred way of Transformers returning to Fortnite is for there to be a limited time event where you can transform certain characters from a robot into a car and drive around the map, because let’s be honest, for a franchise called ‘Transformers’ there’s not a lot of transforming in the existing Fortnite collaboration.
4. Freddy Krueger

We’re going back to horror again. If you’re a horror fan, you surely have noticed that most of your favorite slashers have made it to Fortnite such as Jason, Michael Myers, Leatherface, even Ghostface got a skin and in-game phone cabin mechanic just last year. However, there’s notably one huge absence in Fortnite’s roster and that is Freddy Krueger. We think that his addition is paramount for this year’s Halloween event Fortnitemares, since his absence becomes more and more abundantly clear with every passing year as more horror icons get added.
To be fair, it is well known that the copyright for Freddy Krueger is very sketchy, and getting him to the game will be nothing less than a miracle, but a necessary one at that. Just look at Freddy’s iconic glove, it’s a perfect match to be made into a pickaxe or limited-time combat item. Personally, we hope he gets his powers and iconicity treated right, unlike Dead by Daylight’s underwhelming addition of Krueger… But we’ll save that rant for another time.
5. Chucky

We’ve got one more horror legend here, and it’s another personal favorite that I would love to see in-game. It’s the one and only Chucky, the killer doll from the ‘80s. The preferred way for him to be added would be to get a human-sized doll so you can play as him, similar to how Call of Duty did it but without looking so costume-y.
Because of his size, we admit it’s difficult to know exactly how he’d be incorporated into Fortnite. If we’re ranking the options, the next best option is for him to be a Sidekick, but if he gets relegated to just being a Back Bling then we think it would be very disappointing for such an iconic character. We want Chucky, but we want him done right.
6. Gumball and Darwin

Recent Fortnite collaborations with Cartoon Network IP such as Adventure Time and the recently announced Regular Show have opened up the possibilities for future Fortnite collaborations even further. We’re sure a great portion of the player base grew up during the time these shows were airing, thus why they’ve got a collab now. Another show that also aired on Cartoon Network around that time was The Amazing World of Gumball which featured a family of cartoon cats and a fish living in a photorealistic world. You know the drill by now, we want them in Fortnite, and with their show revived last year it’s a perfect opportunity.
Just like with Chucky, the main character’s size presents a problem for them to be added to Fortnite, but that doesn’t seem to have impeded other collaborations like The Simpsons or South Park from happening. Am I excited about the possibility of them being skins added as mecha suits like Bart and Lisa Simpson? Not really, but any which way they make it into the game we would consider as a win.
7. Taylor Swift

Hear us out! Regardless of your personal opinion, it is no secret to anyone that the global superstar has been on a winning streak. She gathered millions of fans to sing her songs at the top of their lungs with The Eras Tour, creating real world memories documented on phones across the world and created a moment that’s prime bait for the “nostalgia core” aesthetic for years to come. It was a cultural moment that will remain in the minds of millions for life, including me. And what comes with nostalgia? Money. Sounds like a dream come true for Epic.
We truly feel Swift’s Eras Tour outfits could potentially bring millions of new and returning players back to Fortnite, and almost guarantee new records for outfit sales. It’s undeniable. Everything she does breaks records, and Fortnite would be no exception. It’s seemingly not a priority to most of the player base right now to ask for more pop stars in-game, but it can’t be argued against that every one that has been added has truly made a mark on Fortnite. From Ariana, to Sabrina, to Hatsune Miku, they all made a splash. It’s time to see pop music’s biggest name of the 21st century make her introduction.
And that’s it! Fortnite’s collaborations are a box of chocolates, and you never know what you’re going to get, aside from the approximately $15 bill per skin. There’s infinite possibilities for skins to be made and added to Fortnite. One thing is for sure though: they are going to keep coming, and only time will tell how many of our favorite franchises get a collaboration with Fortnite, or a second chance at it.
