In what has perhaps been the worst-kept secret in recent gaming history, Ubisoft is gearing up to reveal a remake of their legendary Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, official details are sparse other than it’s a remake of the RPG classic, and Ubisoft tease that the “iconic solo pirate adventure returns.”
The worldwide reveal has been confirmed, and it’s happening on April 23, that’s this Thursday at time of writing! The reveal showcase will start at 9 AM PDT, which is 10 AM EDT, 4 PM UTC, 5 PM BST and 6 PM CEST. No information has been given regarding length of the showcase or what to expect, other than the reveal.
Several leaks over the past few months have been continually pointing towards the imminent reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, to the point where industry insiders have been openly speaking on the game in public even before the announcement.

This is Ubisoft’s first remake of an Assassin’s Creed game, and a great choice to start with. The adventures of pirate Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag are widely seen as a high point for the series. With Ubisoft seemingly struggling to keep parts of its business moving in recent years, a remake of a beloved game seems like a safe bet to keep things moving.
Behind the scenes, Ubisoft also have their Assassin’s Creed Infinity project ongoing. The ambitious network of games started with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but is expected to continue with the next game, currently codenamed as ‘Hexe’. The upcoming entry is expected to lean into supernatural and psychological elements in the franchise for the first time.
The Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reveal is coming later this week, and we’ll be covering it all. From the latest games to the live-action Netflix series, we’re covering everything Assassin’s Creed. Be sure to check back often to GameObserver for all the latest as it happens!
