Besides being known for its fighting games tournaments, some fans are also excited about what announcements the EVO event brings. This past weekend in Las Vegas, it wasn’t any different, with new characters, stages, and more announced for several fighting games such as Tekken 8, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, and others. Dead or Alive 6: Last Round released last week, and it was one of the first to make an announcement at EVO, teasing up a new character for the game called Minato.
For one of the central attractions of the event, Tekken 8, a new trailer for Bob Onigiri was shown, who will be arriving on August 24. Additionally, for Tekken, a new cartoon was announced as well, titled Tekken! Another fighting game that has gained good traction is 2XKO, which announced Lux and Samira all the way from League of Legends as the next champions joining the roster.

2XKO isn’t the only newcomer to keep gaining popularity; Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is on many fighting game players’ radars. At EVO, the Marvel fighting game announced another squad of heroes called The Samurai Outriders, which includes Deadpool, Blade, Loki, and Ghost Rider. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game showed a console pre-order trailer, with characters for year 1 including: Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, and Bolin. Other announcements include:
- Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys:Celes gameplay trailer for Zohar.
- Guilty Gear Strive gameplay trailer for Roby-Ky.
- Mina the Hollower joins Rivals of Aether 2.
- Angstrom Levy arrives in Invisible VS this fall.
However, on the classic side of fighting games, Virtua Fighter keeps gaining more attention with its comeback, Crossroads. This time, RGG Studio and Sega showed off a new trailer for a masked character called Bakunawa Killer, sparking many theories among fans on who this character may be. Speaking of classic games, the 30-year-old game, The Path of the Warrior: Art of Fighting 3, was announced to be getting a remastered version, with even new characters being added.
