Running short on gold in Mortal Shell 2? You’re probably not alone. Gold is one of those things you can never really have too much of, especially once you start buying items and upgrading your weapons. The good news is that you don’t have to spend hours simply fighting random enemies and hoping they drop enough coins. There are much faster ways to fill your pockets, and one of the easiest ways to get a massive amount of gold early on involves Gorf, the giant frog NPC found around Mushroom Village.
Visit Gorf in Mushroom Village and complete her interactions by feeding her the mushrooms she asks for. In return, you can receive Marsh Pearls. This is where the real reward comes in. Each Marsh Pearl can be sold to Merrick, the merchant at Marrow Keep, for 2,000 Gold Coins, giving you a huge amount of money at once. Because of this, interacting with Gorf is one of the easiest ways to get a large amount of gold early in the game.
But if you want a method you can repeat again and again, use the Proxima shell and unlock the Collector passive ability to farm specimens that you can sell for gold. First, you need Proxima the Broodseeker, a shell you can get early in the game. Once you have Proxima, increase your Bond Level to 3 by using 15 Glimpses at the Shellkeeper.

Next, spend 5 Shell Points to fully upgrade the Collector skill. Once maxed out, Collector gives you a high chance of harvesting Extracted Specimens when you defeat enemies. These specimens are important because each one can later be sold for 100 Gold Coins. Once Proxima and Collector are ready, head to the Sunken Village Beacon, close to the Mushroom Village area. Cross the bridge and make your way to the nearby arena or animal spawn area, where you can find a group of sheep.
Kill the gathered sheep and collect the Extracted Specimens they drop. Since several sheep are grouped together, you can collect multiple specimens in a short amount of time. After clearing the area, activate the nearby beacon to reset it without having to fast travel. Then head back to the same spot, kill the respawned sheep, collect their specimens, and repeat the process. Once you have collected enough Extracted Specimens, take them to Merrick and sell them for 100 Gold Coins each.
Of course, regular enemies are still one of the easiest and most reliable sources of gold. Enemies can leave small bags of coins on the ground when they die. You can also turn on Automatic Gold Pickup in the game settings. This is especially useful during long farming sessions because you won’t have to stop and pick up every bag yourself.

You can increase these earnings further with Justiciar’s Stone. This stone increases the number of coins you receive from defeated enemies. The bonus gets better as you level it up. At level 2, it gives an extra 2%. At level 3, the bonus rises to 4%, while level 4 increases it to 6%. That may not sound like much, but when you are killing dozens of enemies, those extra coins quickly add up.
You should also sell items you no longer need. During your journey, you will find different items that are mainly there to be sold. Instead of letting them sit in your inventory, take them to Merrick and turn them into coins. You can check your inventory before selling to see exactly how much each item is worth. This makes it easy to decide what you want to keep and what you can safely sell.
And don’t forget about chests. Chests found around the world can contain coins as well as other useful items. Some are easy to spot, while others are hidden inside dungeons and secret areas. So, if you need gold, don’t always rush straight toward your next objective. Search the area, enter smaller dungeons, and explore places away from the main path. You may come away with much more gold than you expected.
