Xbox Achievements Are Getting An Update

It’s been quite a busy year for Xbox. Earlier this year, a change in leadership took place, with former Xbox CEO Phil Spencer retiring, and the new CEO, Asha Sharma, taking over the role. Because of her background working in the AI department at Microsoft, Sharma was met with some doubts by the Xbox community. However, Sharma promised “GREAT games, Return of Xbox, Future of play, and that the team will be listening to players feedback.

While still new in her leadership role, Sharma and team are already delivering in one area the Xbox community has been asking for improvements for some time: Achievements. In an Xbox Wire post, the team confirms that improvements to the Xbox Achievement system are coming, including a visual refresh with updated icons and animations. Also, the ability to hide achievements from your list and highlight your 100% completed gamesThese features will be available first to select Xbox Insiders, and later for all Xbox players.

Similar to Steam, you will be able to highlight your 100% completed games.

Achievements have been an important aspect of gaming on Xbox, so much so that it created the term “Achievement Hunting” for those players who like to get them. The feature made its debut on the Xbox 360, and motivated other platforms like Steam and PlayStation to implement a similar system years later. Achievements add an extra sense of accomplishment to your gaminexperience, while also letting you brag about the time you spend with a game.

In a Twitter/X post about this update, Sharma writes that the team is listening to feedback and that more changes are coming soon. What do you think of this achievements update? Let us know in the comments below, and for more Xbox news, stay tuned to GameObserver
