Microsoft has officially announced the 2026 edition of the Xbox Games Showcase through Xbox Wire, and this year it will be followed by a second event fully dedicated to Gears of War: E-Day. It will serve as their big summer event, a staple time in the games industry to share your biggest headlines for the rest of the year, and beyond!
The Xbox Games Showcase and Gears of War: E-Day Direct will air on June 7 at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT and will be broadcast across Xbox’s main channels, including YouTube and Twitch. The event will be available in more than 40 languages, with support for American Sign Language, British Sign Language, and audio descriptions for maximum audience accessibility.

Microsoft said, “We’ll begin the day with our annual Xbox Games Showcase, including first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles from our first-party studios across the Xbox family, as well as our third-party partners around the globe – from the biggest franchises to soon-to-be indie darlings.” This suggests there will be room for both major franchises and some of the most promising indie projects.
As previously announced, right after the main Showcase there will be a special presentation dedicated to Gears of War: E-Day, featuring new details, gameplay footage, and more information from The Coalition team. The Direct will explore the origins of Emergence Day and could finally offer a clue about the release date of the highly anticipated new chapter in the series.
Since 2026 marks Xbox’s 25th anniversary, it is fair to expect some major surprises and perhaps even more information about Project Helix, Microsoft’s future next-generation console. To help celebrate this milestone, Microsoft has also confirmed the return of Xbox FanFest during the Showcase. This year’s event will include a look back at the last 25 years of Xbox, along with a look ahead at what comes next.
