The science-fiction survival-crafting game, The Last Caretaker, has announced that version 1.0 will be released in Spring 2027 for PC and Xbox. The XBOX version will also be available day one on Game Pass.
In The Last Caretaker, players take the role of a robot on a mission to save humanity. You recover human seeds from a drowned Earth, restore the systems needed to grow them, and launch humanity back into orbit. The game combines survival, exploration, base building, and crafting elements. Since its Early Access release in November 2025, the title has received many updates that expand these elements, such as land and air vehicles, different biomes, underwater exploration, etc. The game has sold more than 400,000 copies and seen players average approximately 50 hours of playtime.

Before the 1.0 release, however, the team at Channel37 will continue to work on big updates, including update 6.0 for PC this October. This update will include new Frontiers, quests, enemy types, and more. “Early Access is giving us something more valuable than a fixed list of features to finish,” said Antti Ilvessuo, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Channel37. “It is giving us hundreds of thousands of people living inside the game and showing us what matters. Spring is 1.0, but it’s not where we put the tools down; rather, it’s the next chapter in an ever-evolving journey.”
While Spring 2027 marks the end of Early Access for The Last Caretaker, Channel37 shares that this will be the beginning of the next chapter for the game. The team plans to continue expanding the game beyond 1.0, with new content, systems, locations, stories, fixes, and surprises still to come.
