The third game in The Darkside Detective series was announced back in December, following the developer Spooky Doorway’s critically acclaimed detective puzzle game The Séance of Blake Manor. Now, at today’s Akupara Direct, one of the six new cases was given its time in the spotlight, and it definitely fits the subtitle of this installment. That’s right; it’s werewolf time.
The trailer opens with a little girl getting bitten by a wolf. Don’t worry, though, it turns out she’s a wolf too, which, as mentioned by Officer Dooley—one of the game’s protagonists—makes it totally fine. If this is your first time seeing anything Darkside Detective-related, know that this is the kind of lighthearted horror vibe you can expect from the entire trilogy. An old-school comedy point-and-clicker.
What follows is a few more gags featuring Officer Dooley and his co-investigator Detective McQueen. A robot refuses entrance to the duo, with Officer Dooley lamenting that someone knows their rights. Detective McQueen appears from behind a performing werewolf rock-n-roll band with Dooley playing the accordion. A celebrity in a trailer waves off the duo, saying they look too boring to talk to. Detective McKing proclaims the need to teach “a hippie” a lesson about moustaches. Along the way, the trailer also shows a puzzle based around setting up the city’s traffic control system by switching around the directions of a bunch of arrows.
