New Metro Game Rumored To Be Announced Next Week

If the rumors turn out to be true, next week could be one of the busiest weeks the industry has seen in a while. Alongside the expected Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reveal and the rumored Sony State of Play, the long-awaited next Metro game may also finally be unveiled.

Current reports suggest that the game, often referred to as Metro 4, could be announced sometime between April 13 and April 17, with many pointing to State of Play event as the most likely stage for the reveal.

It has now been seven years since the last mainline Metro game was released.

The rumor started to gain traction after X user AlexandreNGamR claimed that a new Metro game is expected to be announced next week. The post quickly drew attention because he was also among the first to suggest that Sony is preparing a State of Play for the same period. That report was later backed up by another well-known leaker NateTheHate, which gave the claim more credibility.

The timing of such an announcement would also make sense, since it has now been seven years since Metro Exodus launched, and fans have been waiting a long time for the next game in the Metro franchise. More importantly, 4A Games has already confirmed that it is working on the next Metro game with franchise creator Dmitry Glukhovsky, so the project itself is not in doubt.

Still, despite the growing number of leaks and the believable timing, it is important to remember that neither 4A Games nor Deep Silver has officially confirmed a reveal for next week yet. Until that happens, this should still be treated as a rumor, even if all signs currently point toward an announcement very soon.
