After weeks of speculation and even a leak from Xbox themselves, Marvel superheroes Luna Snow and Magik have finally made their Fortnite debut as part of tonight’s item shop update. The two are available in item shop bundles right now, but their arrival has also brought some controversy from fans of popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals.
The Luna Snow and Magik skins cost 1,500 V-Bucks each, or can be bundled with accessories and an emote for 2,000 V-Bucks each. The Luna Snow bundle comes with an icy-themed Back Bling and twin daggers for her pickaxe, along with a ‘Create and Destroy’ dance emote. As for Magik, she comes with her iconic Soulsword as a pickaxe and a matching portal sheathe for the sword as a Back Bling, plus a ‘Soul Slash’ emote that allows players to carve a glowing X into the air around them.

Earlier in the week, the official Xbox account on Snapchat briefly shared an advertisement showing the new Luna Snow and Magik skins to prompt gamers to download Fortnite, and response from fans on social media was mixed to say the least. Whilst most love Fortnite‘s interpretation of Magik, there are universal complaints from across the fandom regarding Luna Snow’s hair, and we think we know why!
Initial leaks from Fortnite insiders suggested the collaboration was with Marvel Rivals, which had fans expecting the Netease interpretations of the Marvel heroes. However, there is no Marvel Rivals branding on this current Fortnite collaboration, with both Magik and Luna Snow’s Fortnite skins being based on their source material Marvel appearances rather than their currently more popular Rivals looks. With Luna Snow originally comes from mobile game Marvel Future Fight, Fortnite seemingly took heavy inspiration from this version of her character. That explains the differences in her facial features and her hairstyle when compared to Marvel Rivals.
