After Rockstar Games confirmed that the physical version of Grand Theft Auto 6 will only include a download code instead of a game disc, many players became worried that future physical releases could move in the same direction. However, there is now some good news for fans who still prefer buying games on disc.
Insomniac Games has officially confirmed that the physical edition of Marvel’s Wolverine will include an actual Blu-ray disc inside the box. The confirmation came after a fan asked the studio on X (formerly Twitter) whether the physical version would include a disc or just a download code. The official Insomniac Games account replied, “The physical version will include a disc in box.”
The news comes as a relief for many players, especially after Rockstar confirmed that the physical version of GTA 6 will only come with a download code instead of a game disc. As mentioned earlier, that announcement made many fans worry that more big games could start doing the same. Some stores have even said they will not sell GTA 6 because of the decision. Even so, it’s unlikely to have much of an impact on sales, given just how much hype there is around the game.
Marvel’s Wolverine is set to launch on September 15, exclusively on PlayStation 5, with a Standard Edition priced at $70 and a Digital Deluxe Edition available for $80. It is also worth noting that Marvel’s Wolverine will not receive a premium Collector’s Edition with a special box or statue. However, players who buy the physical edition will still get the game on a Blu-ray disc inside the box.
