Housemarque Confirms Saros Has Gone Gold Ahead Of Launch

Housemarque has announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Saros is now “gold,” meaning development has officially been completed and the game is being prepared for launch in its final state. This is an important confirmation because it means the game is expected to launch without any further delays or issues. As a reminder, Saros is the latest Housemarque PS5 exclusive scheduled for release later this month on April 30.

From this point on, the developers at Housemarque can focus on any fixes or features to be added for day one or future updates, which is wildly common during the current era of the gaming industry. Even when a game has gone gold, there are always more bugs to be found!

Development of the PS5 exclusive Saros has officially been completed.

Saros is a third-person sci-fi shooter and is widely described as a spiritual successor to Returnal. Players take on the role of Arjun Devraj, played by the wonderful Rahul Kohli, who must fight against alien threats. Unlike Returnal, Saros will feature permanent progression. Although players will restart after each death on different maps, certain upgrades and improvements will remain, making the overall experience more accessible.

The game will once again feature bullet-hell style combat, where players must dodge waves of enemy projectiles while trying to survive. It combines a modern presentation with a classic arcade-inspired style, and now that it’s gone gold it’ll be here before you know it.

Saros includes DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, allowing players to feel “kickback” and weapon recoil directly through the triggers during combat. The game will also support 3D audio, and in addition, Saros will be PS5 Pro Enhanced, offering improved performance on Sony’s most expensive console with its PSSR technology.
