While Ghost of Yotei introduced a new face to the series, the person behind that character is already open to coming back for more. Erika Ishii, the voice actor for Atsu, has said she would “jump” at any opportunity to return to the role. Speaking with VGC during the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards, Ishii shared how much she cares about the character and the world created by Sucker Punch.
Ishii made it clear that Atsu means a lot to her, explaining that the character will always have a “special place in her heart.” That connection is one of the main reasons she would gladly return if Sucker Punch decides to expand the story with DLC or another project set in the same world.

At the same time, Ishii understands the direction of the series. The Ghost games seem to follow an anthology approach, where each title explores a different time period and a new character. In fact, Ishii likes this idea and explained, “I always, I really, really love that they do anthology stories. The idea of the title being the remarkable thing and how each person who assumes the mantle grows in that moment in time, in which we play their game, is so compelling to me.”
Even so, the actor left no doubt about her interest in returning, saying, “I love anthology series, but yes, any opportunity to revisit Atsu’s world again, I would jump at, absolutely.” For now, there is no confirmation of DLC or a sequel, but if Sucker Punch decides to revisit Atsu, Ishii is clearly ready to step back into the role.
Ghost of Yotei was one of the most talked-about titles of 2025, earning award nominations and recently winning two awards at the 22nd BAFTA Games Awards. GameObservers’ review gave it a perfect score, stating, “Ghost of Yōtei isn’t just an excellent game, it’s quite possibly the perfect sequel.”
