GameStop Joins Uber Eats App

Have you ever been sitting at home, wishing you had the physical copy of a game you’re dying to play, but can’t go and get it? Well, now you’re in luck because GameStop is now on the Uber Eats app. Yes, you heard that correctly.

This partnership announcement came on July 15, and now GameStop locations nationwide offer delivery through the Uber Eats app. Games will not be the only thing the public can have delivered, though; the partnership extends to gaming consoles, accessories, and collectibles as well. Orders can be scheduled for a certain time or delivered as soon as possible, which is the usual for Uber Eats.

Uber Eats app now has GameStop available to order from.

The Head of Grocery and Retail for Uber North America, Hashim Amin, says that “Adding GameStop to Uber Eats strengthens our growing gaming and electronics selection, giving customers access to another trusted retailer they can shop with the speed and convenience they know from Uber.”

Amin notes that gamers using the Uber Eats app should be able to expect on-demand gaming by having gaming essentials delivered straight to their door, including launch-day releases or last-minute replacements before a hosted game night. Users will be able to track their deliveries in real time through the built-in in-app delivery tracking. GameStop can be found under the “Retail” or “Electronics” categories within the Uber Eats app. Alternatively, you can search “GameStop” and find it that way, too.

Uber Eats has been adding a variety of retailers to its app lately, ranging from beauty to home improvement to pet needs. The initial reaction from the public seems to be quite mixed, with some worried that the delivery drivers could cancel an order for a console once they have already picked it up, leaving the customer without their order. Others worry about the price of the games, with one X user stating, “Great, now I can buy a 70 [dollar] game for 150 [dollars], thanks to Uber’s delivery fees”.

The GameStop and Uber Eats partnership is now live in-app and available to order. For all your gaming news, check out GameObserver.
