Epic Games have been tightening the amount of V-Bucks players get for engaging with Fortnite recently, as the price of the virtual currency has increased and less are now given through the Battle Pass. As was previously announced but without a specified date, Fortnite Crew subscribers will be next to feel the V-Bucks cuts as all subscription renewals happening on or after June 6 will receive 800 V-Bucks per month instead of 1,000.
The change to the Fortnite Crew V-Bucks allowance was announced via email to all subscribers of the monthly service, which gives players access to all current Passes, along with a monthly stipend of V-Bucks and a cosmetic bundle. The message informed players that “For subscriptions renewing on or after June 6, 2026, the V-Bucks grant in Fortnite Crew will change from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. You will continue to receive 1,000 V-Bucks until then.”

June also coincides with the start of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, so the decreased V-Bucks allowance will coincide with the time players are most likely to renew their subscriptions to keep accessing the Battle Pass. Not much is known about the upcoming Season 3, with the latest Season 2 only just starting a few weeks ago with a Showdown theme.
This cut of 20% comes with immense criticism from fans, which has already been overwhelming within the community since Epic Games announced devastating layoffs last month. With over 1,000 employees losing their jobs, rising V-Bucks prices and yet ever-increasing amounts of collaborations, it has proven to be a rough year for fans of the battle royale.
Epic has been shifting its priorities within Fortnite to try and “pay the bills“, following their claims that the game costs more to run than it does earn money back. There has also been a long ongoing legal battle between Epic and both Apple and Google, which cost the Fortnite developer billions of dollars in losses and legal costs. We’ll be sure to report on all further Fortnite updates and changes, keeping you informed on which cuts are happening and when.
