Famitsu: Mario Kart Overtakes Kirby Air Riders After Just One Week

The Famitsu sales charts tracks hardware and boxed game sales in Japan, and we’ll be reporting those sales as the chart releases every Thursday. This week’s chart covers Nov. 24 to Nov. 30, and despite being in first place just last week, Kirby Air Riders has already been overtaken and pushed down to #2 by Mario Kart World. Despite already being on the market for almost six months, the evergreen racing game sold an additional 49,000 units this week. Whilst not trailing too far behind, Kirby Air Riders sold 46,000 units in the same period, a drop of 76% from its launch last week.

In a surprising surge, Pokémon Legends: Z-A wasn’t far behind from the leading duo, selling 35,000 copies on Switch and an additional 20,000 units with its Switch 2 Edition. If these sales were combined, Pokémon would’ve outsold both Mario and Kirby, with Legends: Z-A already selling more than 2,100,000 units in Japan after little over a month on shelves in Japan.
