The Famitsu sales charts track hardware and boxed game sales in Japan, and we report on those sales as the chart releases every Thursday! This week’s chart covers January 12 to January 18, as Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Edition secures the top spot thanks to over 31,000 units sold. This puts it far ahead of second place’s Mario Kart World with its 17,000 copies sold. With Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Edition and Donkey Kong Bananza both charting also, it was a big week for the Switch 2 which sold an additional 67,000 consoles this week.
It wasn’t just an impressive week for the Switch 2, as the entire top 10 is made up of either Switch or Switch 2 games! This is becoming a common sight on the Famitsu sales chart, as PlayStation’s releases tend to fall from the chart quite quickly. From the ten charting games, only two of them are not first-party Nintendo properties, with these being Momotaro Dentetsu 2, which charted on both Switch and Switch 2, and the evergreen Minecraft with its physical Switch edition.

Here’s the full Famitsu software sales breakdown for the January 12 to January 18 period, along with the lifetime sales for each game. Be sure to check out our last report from Christmas if you haven’t already!
